Lionchu fins turning black

Post by DeadEnd » Sun Aug 04, 2013 6:27 pm

It started off as a small black patch at the tip of the tail fin has spread to the pectoral fins and wen. There was no sign of fin rot before and definitely not a case of recovering from ammonia burnt. I have more than enough bio filtration and  ammonia is maintain at 0 at all times. Nitrate not more than 40ppm at each WC.  PH at 7.6. It has been like this for the past 2 weeks despite water is kept at pristine condition. This is the only 5" lionchu which have this condition out of 9 pieces.

Anyone knows what is the cause and the cure for it?

I am not sure is sickness or natural. If the fish stay lively and healthy you may want to just leave it.

I know some fish tends to have color change when grow, and the fish could have some black gene.
