Red and Gold Arowana

Post by wolverine » Sat Jan 24, 2015 12:31 am

Hi guys,

(1) Do anyone can advise where in Singapore can get reasonably good red arowana at a affordable price?

(2) Red arowana seems to develop plj (protruding lower jaw) easily, how to avoid it?

(3) In term of aggressiveness, is red arowana more aggressive than gold arowana

(4) Is red arowana more "fragile" compare to gold arowana? If yes, what are the thing to take note when keep red arowana.

Recently, regain interest in arowana, and like to find out more particularly on red arowana.

Do advise.  Thanks.

As i am in the hunting mood for red arowana.

i have contacted an exporter from Malaysia (Borneo side).
Not sure how real this exporter is or just some scam.
Hopefully, i am just over skeptical.

If anyone know a good Singapore farm for Red Arowana to recommend please advise me.

By the way, attached is the fish i suppose to get from the Malaysia exporter.
Nothing finalize yet. Keep my finger cross.

Aside from patience, red aro tends to grow "protruding lower jaw (PLJ)" so can be quite disappointing if you pick your "perfect" fish at young stage and as it grows, the PLJ effect takes place.

i heard it easily takes 6-7 years to develop colour like those on the poster.

By the way, please be wary when dealing with regional farm that claim they can ship fish to your door step. Recently, i have contacted a few, but no real deal is close.......So i think it is still better to pick up (buy) from local farm. Smile.

Gold Head Arowana........
Arowana price has been dropping in the past 10 years.  But the status of the majestic fish remain.

Yes, it is a nice predator fish, with a lot of character and manageable size to keep as pet in the tank.
